Foil stamping is an imprinting process that uses a die, heat, and pressure to permanently transfer a foil material to the surface of the paper. The finished product is flat, with no raise or bump in the foil stamped area.
Foil stamped products should not be used in laser printers, as the intensity of the heat inside the printer can cause the foil to release from the paper and possibly ruin the printer.
